LDAPCon 2026 is underway in Tübingen, Germany, bringing together developers, architects, administrators, and identity professionals from across the LDAP community for three days of workshops, technical sessions, and discussion.
Symas is well represented at this year’s conference, with team members participating both as presenters and as members of the programme committee.
The conference opened on October 6 with a full day of hands-on workshops. Shawn McKinney and Ondřej Kuzník led two Symas sessions: Password Policy with OpenLDAP – From Basics to Production and Monitoring OpenLDAP. The workshops covered practical OpenLDAP administration topics ranging from password policy, replication, and new OpenLDAP 2.7 capabilities to monitoring with tools including Grafana, Prometheus, and Telegraf.
On October 7, Howard Chu presented What’s New in OpenLDAP 2.7, covering new capabilities in the upcoming release, including enhancements delivered with LMDB 1.0 and page-level encryption at rest.
Later in the day, Shawn McKinney presented OpenLDAP Load Testing w/ JMeter, examining practical approaches to generating LDAP traffic and load-testing distributed OpenLDAP environments.
The Symas presence continues on October 8. Ondřej Kuzník will present LDAP and the Python Landscape, surveying the Python LDAP ecosystem with a closer look at python-ldap and ldap3.
Nadezhda Ivanova will also lead a panel discussion, Managing an Open Source Project in an AI “Infested Universe”, exploring the benefits and challenges of AI-assisted development and the policies open source projects are developing in response.
In addition to presenting, Howard Chu and Shawn McKinney are serving on the LDAPCon 2026 programme committee.
LDAPCon has long provided an important forum for the directory services community to exchange ideas, share practical experience, and discuss the future of LDAP and identity technologies. We’re delighted to be part of that conversation again in 2026.
