Welcome to Symas™ LDAP University™. This program includes courses covering everything from introductory LDAP topics to advanced workshops that teach you how to develop extensions and new database backends for the OpenLDAP server. Each course is taught by leading LDAP professionals with in-depth experience in the areas being covered.

Introduction to LDAP, Security, and X.500 Objects

This one-day course introduces LDAP and delves into the details of LDAP operation, available security options, and explores how LDAP is used today. The course also discusses the X.500 object model and examines schemata that are in common use. An afternoon lab provides an opportunity for hands-on training with a functioning LDAP directory.

Implementing Common LDAP Solutions

This two-day course explores the use of LDAP to solve common system management problems. During the first day, the class explores architecture, DIT design, and schema requirements for PAM authentication, mail handling, and user administration. During the second day students will actually design and implement a PAM-based authentication solution.

Designing LDAP Applications

This two-day course teaches designers and architects already familiar with LDAP basics how to design LDAP-based solutions. Time is spent evaluating various architectures, discussing where and how they fit best, and where not to use them. Special attention is given to integration with other directory servers, managing directory information, and determining access policies for the directory.
