Hewlett Packard (HP) is featuring Symas's Symas OpenLDAP (Connexitor™ Directory Services or CDS) as the Directory Services component in their Open Source Integrated Portfolio and Open Source Middleware Stack (OSMS).
Symas OpenLDAP is Symas's distribution of OpenLDAP, the premier Open Source Directory Services software project. CDS integrates the latest source for OpenLDAP with the other Open Source software required to support OpenLDAP: OpenSSL, Cyrus SASL, and the SleepyCat (Berkeley) Data Base. This tested distribution comes in the native installer packages for each of the supported operating systems.
What this means is that HP customers can now get presales, installation, and production support from HP for CDS. Existing CDS Directory Servers supporting mission critical applications and systems can now be added to existing (or new) HP Technical Support Services contracts. HP offers business-hours and 24/7 technical support.
A Symas OpenLDAP subscription includes technical support from Hewlett Packard, backed up by engineering support from Symas, the principal contributers to the OpenLDAP project. Subscribers get access to updated packages as Symas integrates new patches and selected new features. Symas also offers patches through technical support for fixes to severe problems.
