Symas OpenLDAP is a binary distribution that installs using the native OS installation tools for your platforms. The distribution includes Symas binary versions of the following Open Source distributions built from Symas-selected releases and packages to ensure optimum stability and performance:

• OpenLDAP
• Berkeley DB (BDB)
• OpenSSL
• Cyrus SASL

Symas developed the high-performance back-hdb and back-bdb database back ends (based on BDB) for OpenLDAP. The backend architecture and these back ends are unique and give OpenLDAP its significant speed and reliability advantages. back-hdb (hierarchical database) implements a truly hierarchic database that fully supports the subtree rename requirement of LDAPv3. Symas OpenLDAP also includes many enhancements developed by Symas, such as substring index tuning, inequality indexing for GeneralizedTime, audit logging, and more.

Symas OpenLDAP also includes a comprehensive set of overlay modules which implement enterprise features including password policy management, referential integrity, attribute uniqueness, translucency, and more.

  CDS Silver is available for free download for personal and commercial use and includes NO Symas support or maintenance services.

• Symas OpenLDAP Gold:
  • The premium tier of Symas OpenLDAP
  • Includes everything in Symas OpenLDAP Silver plus overlays that implement password policy management, attribute uniqueness, referential integrity, database translucency, attribute constraints, and more.
  • Also includes the back-ldap and back-meta database connectivity backends.
  • Intended for organizations with sophisticated LDAP directory featues, large numbers of entries, or which are replacing an existing directory infrastructure.

  Symas OpenLDAP Gold is available to subscribers. Annual subscriptions include unlimited email support and access to updated packages with new maintenance or features or for new platforms.
